Lilia and Ray Ahner on Their Wedding Day

We started Lilia Photography
three years ago because we both love photography, and after getting married back in 2001, we couldn’t get enough of weddings! We love to document and tell the story of a couple’s special day in a modern and authentic way.
We are both unconventional and still consider ourselves edgy, which helps us attract independent, creative, unconventional and edgy couples. Because we can relate to our couples on a more personal level, they immediately feel comfortable in front of our cameras, and know that they can let their guards down and just be themselves, which translates into beautiful and authentic images.
Lilia studied fine art photography and photojournalism at SJSU and SFSU. She has worked for over ten years as a web designer and uses her design skills to custom design each of our clients’ wedding albums. She is an award-winning photographer, and her work has been published in GQ Japan and shown at Photo Miami. She is also a member of WPJA, PPA, and WPPI.
Ray is a self taught photographer who got his start shooting the San Francisco music scene. Showing up at small clubs with camera in hand, he learned the ins and outs of live music photography, and eventually worked his way through the ranks and has now photographed Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, AC/DC, and countless other bands at venues such as The Oracle Arena, The Arco Arena and The Shoreline Amphitheatre. His images can be found at Ground Control, Lollipop, and Sonic Excess Magazines.
What do you love most about your job?
Quite simply, Ray and I love what we do, and wish to share our experiences with as many people as possible. We have been given a wonderful to opportunity to photograph so many unique and amazing couples, and love to show them off to the entire word. We are in awe of our clients and it’s a real joy to work with people who are so in love with each other. After each wedding we are so energized. We are absolutely passionate about each of our couples and work hard to tailor their experience just for them.

Why are you participating in this contest?
We want to give back to the Bay Area community and we were so thrilled when we were invited to participate. We want to help one deserving couple have the wedding of a lifetime!
